This document will give you and understanding of how to effectively use banners to advertise your website and how to turn those clicks into customers.

 

Introduction

Having your website up on the Internet doesn't mean that you advertising to millions around the world, you need to let them know you are there first. Having a website is like having a telephone number in the white pages, you need to let your prospects know that you exist and how to get to your website.

 

Placement

If you sell music and your target market is teenagers then make sure your banners are placed on sites that attract your target market. Don't place banners on websites juts based on cost, instead advertise on websites that will attract your target market, you want to turn those clicks into profit.

Now that you have your click from the prospect you need to make sure that you keep their attention. Sign them up to a newsletter so that you can get their details and keep exposing them to your marketing materials. Newsletters are very effective because you decide the frequency and not the prospect.

Get them Susbscried to news feeds from your site, so that they keep getting exposure to your advertising.

Do NOT bombard the user with popups, even though this might seem like a good idea to get their attention to offers and advertisements it is not. Popups in many cases just annoy your visitors especially for first time visitors.

 

Measuring

You can measure how your campaigns are going by using analytics software such as Google Analytics which is a free tool to analyse your website. Google Analytics enables you to monitor how many clicks you are getting each day, where they users are coming from, where they are going and much more.
